“The United Nothing”: A Betrayal of Israel
By Sid Roth
The United Nations has a long history of bias against Israel. Recently, the UN passed a resolution demanding that Israel halt its defensive military operations against Hamas. This move has triggered derisive comments from Israelis, who have mockingly labeled the UN as the “United Nothing.” The sentiment behind this scorn is deeply rooted in the UN’s past dealings with Israel. For example, here’s a recent Fox News headline:
“President of the UN’s TOP COURT has a long-standing history of anti-Israel bias.”

The UN has NO legitimate right to dictate Israel’s actions when it comes to defending its citizens from terrorist threats. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rightly opposed the UN’s interference, refusing to let an international body control the fate of the Jewish nation. The UN’s actions are seen as placing a THUMB on the SCALES of JUSTICE, skewing it against Israel and the Jewish people. This stance is a betrayal of the very principles upon which the UN was founded.
Historically, the United Nations and the United States played a pivotal role in the establishment of the State of Israel.
In 1947, in the aftermath of the Holocaust, the UN passed Resolution 181, which called for the partition of Palestine and the creation of a Jewish state. This decision was seen as a divine intervention, fulfilling biblical prophecies and granting the Jewish people a homeland after centuries of persecution. President Truman went against his own State Department in recognizing Israel. In fact, he was the first President to congratulate Israel on its formation!
Truman made the telephone call on May 14, 1948, following the declaration of the new state by David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister… WHY? Truman was raised by a Baptist, Bible-believing mother who taught him to love the Jewish people and Israel! I believe President Truman heard the Esther prophecy in his spirit. Meditate on this and put your name in place of President Truman.
“For IF you remain SILENT at this time [President Truman], protection and deliverance for the Jews will be ordained from some other place, but you and your father’s house shall be DESTROYED. And who knows if you may have attained royal position for SUCH A TIME AS THIS?”
-Esther 4:14 (TSB)
God is brilliant! Both the modern rebirth of Israel and the United Nations emerged around the same time, with intertwined destinies. By turning its back on Israel, the UN is risking its own existence!
This same prognosis applies to The United States! BOTH, the UN and the USA must tread carefully. The Bible clearly states:
“I [God] will bless those who bless you [Israel and the Jewish people], and whoever curses you [Israel and the Jewish people] I WILL CURSE; and ALL peoples on earth will be blessed through you [Israel and the Jewish people].”
-Genesis 12:3 (NIV)
This promise was made to Abraham and his descendants, the people of Israel. Any nation that seeks to undermine Israel’s right to self-defense and sovereignty is positioning itself against God and risking divine judgment!
Netanyahu’s resolve to stand firm against UN directives is not just a matter of national security; it is a stand for justice and righteousness. The UN’s demand for Israel to cease its operations against Hamas, a group recognized as a terrorist organization by numerous countries, including the United States and members of the European Union, is ludicrous. Hamas has repeatedly targeted Israeli civilians, using its own population and prisoners as human shields, and perpetuating violence.
Expecting Israel to back down in the face of such aggression is not just unreasonable—IT IS IMMORAL.
Moreover, the UN’s credibility is severely undermined by its disproportionate focus on Israel. Remember, the entire nation of Israel is about the size of Rhode Island. Time and time again, the UN has passed resolutions condemning Israel while ignoring or downplaying egregious human rights abuses in other parts of the world. This SELECTIVE OUTRAGE reveals an inherent bias that delegitimizes the UN’s position as a fair and impartial arbiter of international conflicts.
The Palestinian people overwhelmingly voted Hamas into power with 80% of the vote, yet Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and Europe. This fact underscores the complex and precarious situation Israel faces, having to defend itself against a group that is both a governing entity and a terrorist organization.
But there is a self-replicating complication to any peace plan, and it is the elephant in room, or more accurately, in the hearts of the Palestinian people.
Since birth, they have been taught to hate the Jewish people, and such teachings are embedded in school curricula in Gaza. Some suggest that Gaza be governed by Fatah, but they too are a terror organization, so the only viable solution is for Israel to wipe out Hamas and then govern Gaza with Israeli military forces. There’s plenty of land in Jordan and in the Sinai of Egypt but we don’t see leaders waiting in line to take in Palestinians. They’d rather kick out the Jews from their ancestral homeland and give it to PALESTINIAN SQUATTERS.
The United Nations, by succumbing to political pressures and failing to uphold its founding principles, is endangering its own future. Its repeated failures to address global injustices impartially and its undue criticism of Israel are symptoms of a deeper malaise within the institution.
If the UN continues down this path, it risks becoming IRRELEVANT, a shadow of its intended purpose.
As followers of Messiah Jesus, we are called to stand with Israel, to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), and to advocate for justice. It is our duty to support Israel’s right to defend itself against those who seek its destruction. In doing so, we align ourselves with God’s plan, promises and purposes!
It’s as if a man has life-threatening cancer with days to live, and the doctors say, “He CAN live… IF he cuts the disease out by its roots.” And the United Nations responds, “No, let the cancer grow!”
Is there not a cause?
