I asked Barry Segal, an Israeli believer and long-time friend, to write the lead article. God has directed us to partner with Barry and his ministry in building bomb shelters to protect innocent lives in the most vulnerable areas in Israel.

God Himself established the nation of Israel to bring His Glory to the whole Earth. Since the beginning of time, the devil has been trying to thwart God’s plan. Anti-Semitism is on the rise from New York to London to Paris and around the world, fueled by many in politics and the media who are dedicated to distorting the truth about Israel. At the same time, Middle Eastern jihadist regimes and terror groups have all sworn to destroy this tiny nation. With global anti-Semitism building like a tsunami, we are on the precipice of seeing the greatest return of the Jewish people to their homeland in history. Israel is mentioned over 2,300 times in the Bible. And there are many prophecies in Scripture stating that the Jewish people will return to the land of their forefathers in the end times.

The United States has been Israel’s strongest ally. Yet, America’s strength of leadership is in decline globally. Its former national glory has been shaken by the deceptions of violence, abortion, drug addiction, corruption, perverted educational institutions and spiritual decline as it has wandered from its Judeo-Christian heritage.

The fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban has only emboldened and energized terror groups who oppose Israel.

by the terror groups of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, both funded by Iran. Innocent adults and children in Israel, of all ethnic and religious backgrounds, have been targeted as they take refuge, wherever they can, from the explosives that rain on civilian neighborhoods. God’s Word is so appropriate to the situation as we proclaim Psalm 91:5 (mev), You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day.…

With over 22,000 missiles of various types launched against Israel in the last 15 years, from beyond its northern and southern borders, casualties have been miraculously low. However, tens of thousands of our citizens, including children, struggle with the onset of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Isaiah the prophet wrote, Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation is past (Isaiah 26:20 NKJV).

On the verge of war

The greatest supporter of global terrorism and threat to Israel’s existence is Iran. Its newly elected President, Ebrahim Raisi, is aptly nicknamed “the hangman” and “the executioner” having been responsible for murdering over 32,000 people. It is no wonder that Israel, the UN and nuclear watchdog inspection agencies are ringing the alarm bells as Iran has enriched its weapons grade uranium to over 60%. Once it enriches uranium to 90%, Iran will be able to produce nuclear bombs to be placed on guided warheads. It will obtain a nuclear arsenal unless stopped militarily. In other words, Israel is running out of time to respond.

The world as we know it is changing quickly. We are on the verge of war in the Middle East. It is only a matter of time. Human lives and souls are at stake. The time to act is now. We must do everything we can to save God’s chosen people—from our intercessory prayers to practical means of support as we help to place mobile concrete safety shelters in areas where they are needed most. God our Father will reward us as we bless those whom He has blessed.

Giving birth to God’s plans and purposes

Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel. One day soon, which we all hope for, Yeshua, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, is going to take up His throne in Jerusalem. However, prior to this awesome event, we will witness the greatest outpouring of God’s Spirit and Glory falling upon the Jewish people. His Word promises a national deliverance and salvation for Israel. We are to be like midwives who aid in giving birth to His plans and purposes.  In the 1960s there was a song sung by Barry McGuire. The lyrics of the chorus were: “But you tell me over and over and over again my friend. Ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.” Are we on the eve of destruction or the eve of the great Glory harvest? Or both?

Isaiah 60:1-2 sums up the good news of God’s plan: Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.

It is for this reason we must become proactive and not apathetic or passive. We, as believers, can partner together and provide secure shelters for the people of Israel. How have we funded these ministries? We have operated under the spiritual law of sowing and reaping for many years now. What’s the latest way we are blessing Israel? Our newest partnership in Israel is described in the lead article. This vision cannot come to pass without God! We want to build 700 Israel Defense Forces approved bomb shelters. Each shelter will display a sign on the outside wall: “Donated with love for the safety of the people of Israel by METV.” Then, with your prayers, those who see the sign will watch our network (it’s available in EVERY Israeli home that owns a TV) and hear the Good News! God is so brilliant!

I’m reminded of the quote by Oskar Schindler in the movie, Schindler’s List. He was a German businessman who saved many Jewish lives during the Holocaust. Yet, after the war, he lamented, I could have gotten more! Schindler was just one man, but let’s show Israel what all of us together can do to build these shelters!

Chai is the Hebrew word for “life.” That’s where we get the toast, L’Chaim, to life! As we build these shelters, we are not just blessing Israel with Chai, but “Double Chai”—double life! Why double life? These shelters literally save Jewish lives. But METV points them to Yeshua Who saves lives for eternity!

Every Hebrew letter has a numerical value. The numerical sum of the letters for Chai is 18. At Jewish weddings, bar mitzvahs, and when making honorary donations, we Jewish people often give gifts of money in multiples of 18, symbolically giving the recipient the gift of life. So, make a gift in multiples of 18 to build a bomb shelter in Israel and point people to our METV television network in Israel. And bless Israel with double Chai—double life!

Why does God give such favor to our ministry? It starts with Genesis 12:3 (NKJV) where God says: I will bless those who bless [Israel], and curse him who curses you. The greatest blessing you can give a Jewish person is salvation! This is why we have always followed the “Law of Evangelism” by going to the Jew first! God the Father, Jesus and Paul followed this pattern. It is clearly spelled out in Romans 1:16 (MEV): For I am not ashamed of the gospel of the Messiah. For it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, TO THE JEW FIRST, and also to the Greek. By going to “the Jew first,” it supernaturally opens even greater doors for Gentile evangelism. We are called by God to be a forerunner of the Glory of God, to teach and demonstrate and equip you to fulfill your God-given destiny in this INCALCULABLE HARVEST (Habakkuk 2:14)! L’Chaim!
