Two Keys to Separate the True from the Counterfeit in the Last Days
July 15, 2014
We are about to witness the greatest outpouring of God’s Spirit in history. Limbs will be restored. Hospitals will be cleared out. Many dead people will be raised. We will be flooded with miracles.
We are also in the last days. They began in 1948 when Israel became a nation. Jesus said in Mark 13:28-30 about the fig tree, which represents Israel, “Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that his return is very near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene before all these things take place.”
But the Bible warns about false prophets, miracles and deceptive spirits in the last days.
1 Timothy 4:1
“Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.”
Matthew 24:24-25
“For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones. See, I have warned you about this ahead of time.”
How can you recognize the true from the counterfeit so you don’t fall into deception?
Here are the two keys dividing the true from the counterfeit in the last days.
Those who are walking compromised (unholy) lives will lead themselves, and others, into deception. Counterfeit signs and wonders will accompany a shift in the way the Bible is taught. The Gospel will be watered down. The reality of hell will not be a popular message. The door to salvation will be presented as wide and not narrow. Books in the Bible dealing with sin and judgment will be ignored. God will be presented as love only and not as a righteous judge.
The false grace message will give believers a (false) license to avoid repentence and live like the world. Many moving in signs and wonders now will slowly conform to the spirit of the world and lead others into deception. There will be a clear distinction between true believers and counterfeit. The true will walk on the highway of holiness. Paul clearly states in Hebrews 12:14, “…without (holiness)…no man shall see the Lord. And 1 Peter 1:15-16 says “…like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in ALL your behavior; because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.'”
Let us not forget that the Spirit of God is called the Holy Spirit.
Those who come against the biblical revelation of the Jew and Israel will end up in deception. Many think God is finished with the Jewish people because of their disobedience. Romans 11:29 says the opposite: “For the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable.”
Think of the ancient Egyptians. When Moses followed God’s calling to bring the Israelites out of captivity, God moved through him to demonstrate signs and wonders. But the Egyptians also demonstrated signs and wonders from a demonic spirit. Moses followed God’s leading and shared God’s heart for His people. The Egyptians did not share God’s heart for His people. They wanted to keep them enslaved. This resulted in God’s judgment of Egypt.
God makes His position on the Jew and Israel abundantly clear in Scripture:
Genesis 12:3
“I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
Obadiah 1:15
“…As you have done to Israel, so it will be done to you. All your evil deeds will fall back on your own heads.”
Psalm 105:8-11
“He remembers His covenant FOREVER, the word which He commanded, for a THOUSAND GENERATIONS, the covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac, and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel as an EVERLASTING covenant, saying, ‘To you I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance,’”
Romans 11:11-12
“I say then, have they (the Jewish people) stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles. Now if their fall is riches for the world, and their failure riches for the Gentiles, how MUCH MORE their fullness!”
Sadly, many who have top miracle ministries today will increase in these two errors: unholiness and coming against God’s heart for Israel. Unless they repent, they will lead many into complete deception. But not you. Now you know the two keys separating the true from the counterfeit!

Sid Roth, a former account executive for Merrill Lynch, was raised in a traditional Jewish home. Yet, religious tradition provided no answers when he hit rock bottom in 1972. With his life out of control and his marriage in shambles, Sid was set free from demonic oppression through a supernatural encounter with Jesus. Immediately, he began to boldly proclaim Jesus as the Jewish Messiah.
